Vinnie is off to a fantastic start at the Coop, in just the second week of his Supported Internship.

In bemix Supported Employment programmes, our Supported Employment Specialists take the time to truly get to know a person. We work closely with young people to understand their ambitions and identify where they need support to build confidence and independence. For some, like Vinnie, the journey begins with a Preparation for Employment year, allowing them to explore their interests and grow skills, before moving on to a Supported Internship. Early on, it was clear that Vinnie was keen to work in a retail environment. After a successful placement at another Coop branch, we reached out to Sunny, the branch manager in Gravesend. Following a successful interview, Sunny offered Vinnie the opportunity to join the team.

Vinnie approached his initial Taster session with motivation and enthusiasm, impressing Sunny and the team. Vinnie left the shift feeling happy, and looking forward to his next session! Vinnie is currently working 15 hours a week, the next step toward achieving his goal of paid employment.
