Supported Employment supports young people with autism and learning disabilities to prepare for the world of work, with the goal of finding paid employment. With bemix programmes, young people can build the confidence and skills to flourish independently.

Rhys demonstrates a fantastic example of how, with the right support, young people can thrive in the workplace. Rhys has been working at The Entertainer in Chatham, as part of his Supported Internship. He has made great progress in his role, and it’s been amazing to see his confidence grow!

Through his placement, Rhys has gained valuable workplace experience, developing skills in pricing stock, managing incoming deliveries, and responding to customer queries. With the support of travel training, he now confidently uses public transport to get to work. His hard work and adaptability have earned him glowing feedback.

Rhys said, “It's been alright, I've learnt about different toys and follow instructions.”

Mel, Rhys' colleague at The Entertainer, adds, “Lovely, pleasant and polite boy. Happy to do anything and adapts to constructive feedback. Always willing to help.”
