Dover Community Radio (DCRFM) have been friends of bemix for many years. People in the Audiobox project have been hosting a weekly radio show called The Audiobiox, which airs every Sunday on DCRFM.

The show is fully planned and produced by people in the project. Everyone works together to choose the music, make decisions about content, and share things that matter to them – from raising awareness of issues they care about, to highlighting local or national events. Over the years, the group has even created adverts to promote bemix events.

When the chance came up to be guests on a different DCRFM show, Tom and Steve jumped at the opportunity.

Tom Seaton, bemix project member, and Steve Perry, bemix Director of Arts and Social Enterprise, recently joined DCRFM presenter Lee Edgington live on his Teenage Kicks radio show – a three-hour music programme that plays out every Friday on DCRFM. Tom and Steve were given the opportunity to talk all about the important work bemix projects do. Their playlist included an eclectic mix of punk, soul, funk, disco, reggae and ska – a real treat for music lovers!

Speaking after the show, Tom said:

“It was an enlightening experience doing a live radio show and it was very nice to get the feel of doing a live broadcast. I learned what goes into putting out a live show and really enjoyed playing out the music. It was a great opportunity and I would love to do it again sometime. Thanks Lee!”

You can listen to Teenage Kicks with Lee Edgington live every Friday from 12–3pm on DCR 104.9 FM or online at www.dcrfm.co.uk. Missed it? Catch the repeat on Tuesdays at 9pm – or listen back to this episode on Lee’s Mixcloud.
