Are you looking for journalism experience?

Would you like to use your writing and communication skills to give a louder voice to people with learning difficulties and/or autism?

We are looking to recruit a volunteer to our relatively new communications team. The successful volunteer will take on the role of press liaison, building relationships with the local press so that the voices of people with learning difficulties and/or autism are heard more widely.

Volunteer role summary

Over the past year we have refreshed our branding and marketing materials. We have a new brand, new website and a new name - we changed our name from Skillnet Group to bemix on 11th June 2018. Now we have a really bold and professional platform from which to share the excellent work we do, and the achievements of people we work alongside.

Now, we need help to increase the influence we have. We want the wider community to know about what we are doing so we can change negative attitudes about learning disability and/or autism.  This is why we need your help!

This is an excellent opportunity for a Journalism student or graduate to gain experience in writing for the community sector and on themes of inclusion and social justice.  The role requires making links and forming relationships with the local and regional press and so is an invaluable link to the local press and media and an opportunity to get your writing known.
