bemix is excited to be working with East Kent Mencap and Learning Disability England to set up a new leadership course for people with learning difficulties in Kent.

In November, we surveyed 104 adults with learning difficulties. We found that:

• 10 were already active as leaders.
• 33 were not doing anything, but want to.
• All 10 who were already active want to do more.
• From this sample, we think as many as 500 people in Kent would be interested in, and suitable for, a leadership course.
• People are keen to work with the Council and police.
• Building confidence is the biggest need from a course, together with the skills to speak up and be heard.
