Supported Employment Specialist (Canterbury/Swale)

What do you love about working with bemix?

It’s a real privilege to work with young people at the beginning of their career’s, working to support them to find the right role and watching them grow in confidence. I really believe that given the right support young people can excel in work, regardless of any barriers they need to overcome.

How long have you been involved with bemix?

I began working with Bemix in August of this year.

What is your role in bemix?

Supported Employment Specialist in Canterbury and Swale.

What did you do before you joined bemix?

After studying person-centred counselling, I began work as an Individual Placement Support Employment Specialist, offering one-to-one tailored support enabling people back into employment as part of their recovery after a mental health crisis, witnessing first-hand the positive impact on mental health and wellbeing appropriate work can make.  I then began working as an Employment Advisor supporting people with a variety of barriers which included disabilities and autism into employment. Due to this and personal experience, I am passionate about being part of a positive change towards a more inclusive world of work.

What do you enjoy doing when you're not working?

In my spare time, I enjoy being out in nature, walking the dog or horse riding.  I also enjoy reading and the theatre, I particularly enjoy reading biographies, autobiographies and anything related to mental health and wellbeing.
