Eco Shed and Sittingbourne's Be Seen, Be Heard project have been involved in Raise the Sittingbourne Barn, a project supported by Ideas Test and Whitstable Biennale. The project is an co-designed art installation that brings members of the community together to teach and learn traditional construction techniques and rituals.

bemix group members took part in an enjoyable workshop run by Emma, Lydia and Esther, artists and curators, working with "Raise the Sittingbourne Barn".  People spent a day choosing fabrics and learning natural dying techniques, cutting different shapes out of the dyed fabrics and using them to clad wooden frame structures. The workshop was one of several that have brought together community groups over the past year.

The work produced will be fixed together to make different shapes and will be used as an art installation which will be on display at the Milton Creek Art in the Park event on 10th August 2019.

The co-design project ends with an interactive theatre performance at Art in the Park.  The performance will bring together participants and spectators at Milton Creek Country Park to construct and raise a functional barn.

Everyone is welcome, so do come along to see our work and take part in Raising the Barn.
